Lacey Layne, VA Boston Terrier Adult Female in Ocala, Florida

My story
Lacey Layne has been in rescue for a few weeks and has really started showing her true personality. She's loving life and ready for a family that wants to keep spoiling her!Fun Facts1) She LOVES to play her with her puppy foster sibling. We're talking bitey face/run around the yard kind of play until they are both so tired they need a nap. This makes total sense now knowing she was likely bred multiple times and was around puppies.2) She gets along with the other 8 dogs in her foster home (large and small, young and old).3) She likes squeaky toys and chewing on antlers/bones. 4) She LOVES people and will let you kiss her right on the mouth and hug her. She likes to cuddle on the couch and will try to inch her way up to your face. She's hilarious but oh so sweet!5) While her foster momma works, she is perfectly content to snooze the day away from a dog bed close by. Things to Know/Things that may need a little work: 1) If she's really excited because you've left her alone for a few hours, she will welcome you home by jumping up a few times and trying to nip the back of your arm. Yes, she may look lazy, but the girl can jump! She settles down once she runs around for a minute. She'll need continued positive reinforcement to break this reaction.2) Barks at the neighbors through the fence and loud noises outside. 3) She can be a bit of an attention hog and will try to get in your face regardless of whether other dogs are around or not. If they're in her way and trying to push her out of the way too, she may get mouthy with them, but has shown no outright aggression. Easily controlled by verbal command or by removing one of the dogs from the situation.4) Should be crated when you leave the house unless you want scratches on your doors and windows. What can we say, she loves her people and wants to be with them. Medical: No immediate concerns. Lacey currently has some hair thinning and hair loss and scarring on her back (shown in her pics) from previous neglect. Lacey is a 4 year old Frenchton (French bulldog/boston terrier mix) that weighs in around 30lbs. She is spayed, microchipped,UTD on vaccines, on heartworm prevention and flea/tick control. The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma. We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them. Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lacey Layne, VA, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
