Selina's story
Abandoned when her family moved. Selena had a bit of a rough start. She wad then in by Quality of Life Rehab and Foster... given shots and spayed. She was them adopted by one of the cleaning ladies that had found her. All seemed well for a while but this family did not have the patience to embrace their new family member. 3 months after adoption we received a call that Selena needed to come back. We were told it was due to allergies but we knew that was not true. And when we went to pick her up the reality became all too clear. The young child of the home told us that Selena was a bad cat and had to be spanked often. When we ask the mother what the cat had done to deserve spanking she described a cat that was brain-dead and couldn't pee in the litter box. We asked that Selena's belongings be donated to us with her and when we saw the litter box we understood the problem was not with Selena. The litter box was very tiny and very shallow. This poor Kitty was getting in the litter box but missing while standing in it. And to be spanked, physically stricken for missing the litter box is deplorable treatment for any animal. We are relieved to have her with us again and we cannot believe that someone would be so cruel. She's a beautiful little polydactyl with such a grumpy expression :-) she really cracks me up. She was very sweet to the young girl and slept with her and tolerated her play with a patient spirit. She's young and healthy and ready for her actual forever home period a family that will not give up on her. A family that will seek to understand why mistakes are made and help her to rectify them. A family that will be indeed her family.
